This is a DBS 2-door saloon, one of the only 103 units equipped with the ZF 5-speed manual transmission and Tadek Marek´s 4.0 L (282 HP) 6 cylinders engine with 3 S.U. HD8 carburetors. This car was delivered with Girling Disc brakes, the 3.75 rear end differential and Avon tires.
This car was commissioned by Alton S.A. (Aston Martin Spain´s importer at that time) in April 1969 to be the car for the 1969 Barcelona´s Motor Show (Salón Internacional del Automóvil) in the Montjuïc pavillions, for this reason it was sent from the Newport Pagnell factory an especially well-configured vehicle with many attractive options and with two special exhibition plates.
The paint was Silver Bitch and the interior upholstery was in navy blue Connolly leather and the carpets in dark blue Wilton wool. The options list include the ZF 5 speed manual transmission, York air conditioned system, hydraulic power steering, Bosch European radio, Hour Smith´s odometer, two headrest, two rear safety belts and also two FIAMM horns.
The DBS was sold in the Barcelona´s Fair by Victor Palomo Monegal, the Barcelona´s AM distribuitor. The car was in the hands of very carefull owners (we know the name of 4 owners) and always keeped in dry garages. The car is well know in the Spanish Classic Car world and it was the cover of several specialized magazines .
Currently the car has 84.500kms and it was resprayed some years ago in the same original color. The engine was full restored by us 1 year ago with high precission standards and with original spare parts and rebuild by the same mechanical engineer who keep this car for years first in Talleres Hudson (Barcelona´s AM Service) and later in Auto Storica (who acquired that old workshop and hired all the trained staff). All the car mechanicals was revised, the brakes system, suspension and steering elements, the coolant system and radiator and, of course, full electric system was checked and improved.
This well preserved Aston Martin with his original patina is an added value and authenticity in front of a vehicle completely fresh restored but without this unique patina. The car is in very good condition and it´s a full matching numbers car and matching color combination with know history and with AM heritage certificate, original DBS brochures and some workshop and owner´s manuals. We believe that thanks to the importance fact to be a “Show” car and his good condition make us think this is one of the most interesting DBS in Europe to buy. The car will be delivered with a full service done in our workshops and a new set of Avon Turbospeed tires.
The car is ready for test in our Barcelonas premises. You are welcome to come and see the car for yourself or any other third part. Please to ask for your suggested date of appointment.
